Hi I’m Colleen Wilson. Mum to one son, Benson and dog mum to my border collie, Bonnie. I love rainforests and waterfalls and it is my dream to own a little log cabin in a lush rainforest setting one day, preferably with a waterfall at my back door. I love baking, reading, eating chocolate, drinking coffee and generally being a couch potato binge watching a good TV series.
I’m a Registered Midwife, Registered Nurse, and Massage Therapist. I also have an Aromatherapy Diploma specialising in antenatal, postnatal and menopausal aromatherapy for women. Plus I have a special interest in postnatal nutrition, in particular Ayurvedic healing nutrition which often sees me experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes.
The fourth trimester (or immediate postnatal period) is the most neglected part of a woman’s childbearing journey. Antenatal classes focus on labour and birth and very little, if any, attention is given to what happens after the baby is born. It is Nurtured Mums’ mission to provide education to pregnant couples about the postnatal period to come, and give support to the new family for the first 6 weeks following the birth of their baby. That support may look different for every couple and it may be delivered either in-home or virtual (depending on where you live). Support will be tailored to meet the unique needs of you and your baby with an emphasis on evidence-based care along with traditional postpartum practices such as healing nutrition, belly-binding, use of aromatherapy and massage.
In-home services can be supplied to residents of the Gold Coast/South Brisbane area.
I also provide virtual sessions anywhere in Australia.
